Getting The Most Out Of APUSHslides.com
Figuring out the content you need to teach AP U.S. History and the pacing at which it needs to be done can be difficult. That is the reason I have started this site, to provide a resource for teachers that I wish had been available to me when I started teaching this course. The goal, first and foremost, has been to create a complete curriculum that checks all the boxes on the content required by the College Board.
The lectures on this site and the accompanying notes and activities are meant to serve as a complete curriculum map for anyone teaching AP U.S. History. The slides will cover all topics outlined by the Course and Exam Description that the College Board provides. The best way to utilize these resources is to assign students video lectures for homework and completing the activities at the end of the notes in the classroom setting. This allows students to not just interact with the same material twice, but it gives teachers the opportunity to dive deeper into the course material through primary and secondary sources, short answer practice and other activities. This format is ideal for creating a flipped classroom without scrounging videos and material from every end of the internet.
The material on this site can also be used as supplementary material. If teachers are happy with the way they deliver content to students, the notes activities can still be used independent of the slides provided on this site. If teachers are happy with the activities they already use but want to supplement their lectures with slides that are updated to the most recent College Board alignments they can use the slides without assigning the additional activities.
The blog on this site will serve as a place for supplementary materials, lessons, or articles that would be of interest to those currently taking or teaching the course. Posts will be categorized by the historical period to best serve those looking for more material. Posts will continue to be created even once the entire curriculum has been fully uploaded, so make sure to subscribe below for notifications on new updates!
I hope that whether you are a teacher or student, the material on this site is helpful in better understanding U.S. History.
I wish you the best of luck this school year!
